On Friday, May 2nd 2008 Oprah will be having an interview with Tom Cruise. This will be the first interview since Tom Cruise did the couch jumping he is so in love stunt a few years ago. Here is a reminder video of that infamous day just to take you on a trip down memory lane. “memories like the corners of my mind” (oh Babs):
In my circle we’ve talked extensively about Tom Cruise and the media’s perception on his life. One conclusion we have all discussed is that he seems like someone with low self-esteem. Now, let me explain that we are not trying to slam him or diagnosis him, but rather, start the conversation if you think he is a famous example of someone acting perfect when nothing in life is perfect. According to the
University of Texas, Austin 3 Faces of Low Self-Esteem one of them includes “The Impostor”. The person always afraid they will be figured out as a fraud, and act out in ways of perfectionism, competition and more. My question is that although he has what our western society deems as “success” he seems so hollow to me. Like he is person living a role of perfection, instead of a person living a real life.
I don’t want to watch his new interview but I know I will. What are your thoughts on this whole thing?
Ps. The Sex and the City Cast is on Oprah today.
